Twenty-six years after the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry started in the Philippines, the industry has become one of the major contributor in the country’s annual GDP or Gross Domestic Product. Even with this enormous and continuous growth, the industry still faces many misconceptions. But still, there is no denying the contribution of the BPO industry to both the economy and the employment of innumerable Filipinos in need.

You may ask why the industry this big in the country and why are Filipinos so in demand as call center agents. Here are some of the reasons why it really is fitting that the Philippines was declared as the world’s BPO capital.

English Matters

Although the English language is widely spoken all over the world, foreign BDO companies still gravitate towards the Philippine BDO industry. This is because Filipinos do not have a distinct accent when speaking in English. We are also confident in speaking the language. This is a good selling point for foreign investors because it means agent-customer relations will be well with less miscommunication.

There is no question about the Filipinos’ talent, commitment to their work and overall employability. The skills we possess, not only our English proficiency is attractive to foreign BPO companies. Aside from this, our work ethic and willingness in working with a team gives us an edge against competitors.

Working in a call center company means having to deal with different types of people and culture. To some, this will be a little too much. But Filipinos have a long history of adaptability and hospitability. These traits, among many others Filipinos naturally possess are traits that work well in customer service. These also assure that every call and transaction will be a favourable experience for the customers and will have a positive impact to the company.

Money Talks

The cost of living and operating in the Philippines is much lower than in Western countries. Offshore outsourcing saves money operating in this country for almost 30 to 60%. BPO companies also take advantage of the fact that the labor cost in the Philippines is lower than most countries. Time is money. So, aside from the operation costs, BPO companies also save in terms of their time investment. Because of the skills Filipino employees already have, the time and money spent on training can be lessened. This gives the company more resources to further expand and improve the company.

With the current state of society because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus Disease of 2019 (COVID-19), an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) was imposed, and was initially put in effect for only thirty days. However, because of the surge of positive cases across the nation, the government has provided extensions to the quarantine period. With the ECQ in effect, businesses and institutions are forced to close temporarily, and has left countless Filipino employees without proper compensation.

Celebrating 10 Years Under the Sun with Summer Camp 2019


The sun was shining bright as BD BPO Solutions, Inc. celebrated its 10th year anniversary with this year’s Summer Camp. The festivities were held on March 30-31, 2019 at Viento De Mar Beach Resort in Bacacay, Albay. The two-day event not only brought together the Daraga and Naga operations together for celebration and merriment, but also acted as a team building event for all those present. The first day of the Summer Camp started with the opening remarks given by BD BPO’s General Manager, Mr. Brian Seran C. Baltasar. The ceremonial torch was lighted by 2018 Agent of the Year, Angelie Agregado, and the Pledge of Sportsmanship was led by Ms. Marian Jo Noble.
